Funding a year’s subscription to Newsela, an instructional content platform, increases student’s reading engagement.
In the History classroom, funding a year’s subscription to Newsela, an instructional content platform, increases student’s reading engagement. The subscription allows for teachers to truly find reading material to best fit the individualized needs of their students. There are articles for just about any subject such as Social Studies, Science, and even Math from sources like the History Channel and National Geographic. This subscription is a one-stop shop for articles and allows for assessment creation directly related to the articles. The program works to change the wording in some articles to challenge advanced students or make things easier for some students who struggle. Newsela also offers teachers the opportunity to monitor and keep track of which students have read (opened) the articles that have been assigned for reading. Any student could benefit from the use of Newsela in the classroom.
