Howard Hoffman
Howard Hoffman has lived in the Norcross-area for almost forty-five years with his wife, Janie. Their two sons are graduates of Norcross High-Jeff Class of ‘01 and Sam ‘04. Hoffman spent his professional career in media—Coming to Atlanta in 1979 to join a startup advertising agency. He spent 20 years with PARADE Magazine, distributed in the Sunday newspaper during the halcyon days of that medium. After graduating in 1967 from Bethany (WV) College, located near Pittsburgh, his hometown, he worked as an on-air television personality. First in Wheeling, WV and then Louisville, KY, where he was a sportscaster and play-by-play announcer for University of Louisville basketball and the professional Kentucky Colonels of the American Basketball Association. He was also a Vice-President of Athletes for a Better Education, Academic Athletic program, that prepared high school basketball players for college. His involvement with basketball has been a constant in his life, professionally, personally and as a player. Hoffman was inducted into the Bethany College Sports Hall of Fame (Basketball) as a member of the school’s undefeated team in ’63-’64.
