Amy Crisp
Amy Crisp has dedicated 25 years to teaching multilingual learners at Norcross High School, where she currently serves as the ESOL Department Chair. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Furman University, a Master’s in English Education from Georgia State University, and a Specialist’s degree from Piedmont College, Amy is deeply committed to enhancing the educational experience for diverse students. In 2016, she served on the Governor’s Teacher Advisory Committee, giving input about Teacher Reform Commission recommendations, and in 2017, she was featured in the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement’s RealTeachers.RealVoices campaign which highlighted the benefits of teaching. A year later, she participated in a county cross-functional action team that made literacy recommendations for the district. Amy was honored as Norcross High School Teacher of the Year and Gwinnett County High School Teacher of the Year in 2018. Throughout her career, Amy has led numerous professional development sessions on multilingual learners, including a recent school-wide staff development to enhance teachers’ understanding of their multilingual students. An avid reader, one of the things Amy loves the most is to make reading accessible to her students. She is always on a quest to match students with their perfect book which will hopefully lead to a life-long love for reading.
